POST 9: Blue bike; centre stand

The centre-stand is held on by 2x 12mm bolts. One below the front of the return spring and one at the rear.

Tap out the bolts- The front bolt is longer than the rear.

The stand comes off in one piece but this consists of 2 parts held by the pivot pin. This has a plain button at one side and a washer and split pin at the other.

Straighten the split pin and remove it. Tap the pivot pin out of the stand and separate the parts. The return spring comes off in this process and the parts will separate.
Washer as removed- the split pin will need replacing!

I degreased, derusted and repainted the stand in gloss black.

Dealing here with the blue bike- an obvious problem was that the front brake control was completely siezed. Having come across this before I immediately suspected a corroded  actuating arm stuck fast in the hub, or sometimes the linings can detach from the shoes and jam them inside the hub. In either case it needs sorting and the first step is quite obviously- remove the front wheel. This seems quite straight forward so I took a few pics of the wheel mounting before starting. The right hand view showed that the hub appeared to be leaking grease. There was a spacer installed here- narrower end towards the hub seal. POST 1: The FIRST Acquisition; the orange bike

 Bought this NC50 via fb mktplace... lots missing but priced well below going level for these and might be passed on easily. Ad below... Although I think I definitely overpaid... I didnt pay that much! Im houng yo attempt to get this going and sell it on as a working bike but I wont be beautifying it... thats down to the next owner. Please search for posts on any of the bikes systems to see how I tackled them. I got this for less than advertised but it has some obvious problems. Firstly several parts are missing... mainly covers and lights. I noticed the airfilter and carb cover, exhaust cover, front light and indicators, rear light, number plate mount and indicators. I since discovered that the footrest fairings and post trim below saddle and speedo nacelle were missing too. The head had been removed and the barrel separated from the siezed piston. POST 7: Blue bike; Rebuilding the motor and transmission

I hadn't planned on doing this rebuild although the possibility must be always on the cards when you buy a bike of unknown history like this. Gasket sets were easy enough to locate on ebay, although bearings and oil seals are not available as sets. I needed: For the cover: Kickstart oil seal 16x28x7 For the transmission case: Final drive bearing 6203uu double shielded bearing Final drive oil seal 24x4x7  Crankshaft oil seal 15x25.5x7 Crank bearing 6004 unshielded 20x42x12 Oil pump O ring 18.5x2.2 I also bought new 12x17 shim washers in 1mm and 0.5mm thicknesses, and new 12x22 stainless steel wave washers but these will need machining to 17mm OD. For the crankcase: Crankshaft oil seal 15x25.5x7 Crank bearing 6004 unshielded 20x42x12 I also bought a new small end bearing I started with the small final drive in the transmission case and levered out the oil seal towards the inside of the case.
